£792.00Ceratonurus Spiny Trilobite 85mm in overall length in the fossil matrix which is found in the 'couche rouge', Red fossil layer, as is the Crotalocephalus trilobite at the same location in the same red layers. A remarkably well preserved fossil arthropod displaying excellent preparation and conservation which enables us a glimpse back in time to the Devonian era, and into the life of this particular arthropod, invertebrate trilobites which once proliferated the sea's 400 million years ago. Some were free swimmers, most lived solely on the sea bottom, with appendages and spines which were for defence. The bottom of murky sea's could have been a very poorly lit place, disturbed by the multitude of foraging marine life.
