Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus Vertebra 175mm
This Spinosaurus aegyptiacus sacral vertebra measuring 175mm was discovered in the Western Saharan desert regions of South-East Morocco. The sacrum represents an essential element for understanding the Dinosauria clade, beginning with the first use of the taxon name by Richard Owen in 1841 a five-vertebra sacrum was initially considered diagnostic of sauropods and theropod dinosaur anatomy.
Currently, the best fossils are becoming more desirable and of course, more valuable, like all fossil material, any one piece can double in value overnight based on findings and closure of sites. Old sites are now being heavily re-excavated in the hopes that fossils of such a calibre as this one can be found again, however, this is highly unlikely. Now coupled with the lack of specifically accessible beds, is leading to a concern that the grounds will eventually be extinguished of dinosaur fossils altogether and this is before the governments begin to close the few sites that are left.
