Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus Dinosaur Tooth 158mm

£1,192.00 GBP

Spinosaurus aegyptiacus tooth 158mm long from the base of the rootstock to the crown tip. Excellent preservation after recent conservation here in the Lab in England. The monster dinosaur tooth crown exhibiting a good light toffee colour to the dentin enamel. The enamel displaying the archetypical patina of this location of the Red Sandstone beds of Kem Kem, Morocco.

This is an exceptional specimen, with not only the original, but large root intact and attached, this is a rare occurrence in our experience, all too often a large tooth of this type will sustain damage in the fossil process's and unfortunately, the roots become separated from the upper crowns. Here then is a very unusual opportunity to gain a Spinosaurus dinosaur tooth with elongate root.

Spinosaurus was a semi-aquatic predator, theorised as a free swimmer in the once Cretaceous Lagoons of Tegana full of Onchopristis sawfish and Hybodus sharks, evidently found in the same beds as the Spinosaurus which suggests these were one of the main food sources for the Spinosaurus.

Palaeontologists theorise the large Spinosaurus sail was multicoloured, similarly to modern reptiles designed to warn off predators and to scale against other Spinosaurs to determine the size of a threat or to attract a mate. The sails also provided stability when semi-submerged in waters to hunt prey.

This is an opportunity to invest in a rare, fine-grade fossil dinosaur tooth, once within the jaws of this ferociously renowned theropod dinosaur, a predator with elongated and powerful snapping crocodile-like gharial jaws with great conically powerful puncturing teeth that once terrorised the cretaceous waterways, now know as the Sahara desert, North Africa.

The completeness of the tooth is a very good and an important scientific study piece morphologically speaking. Now conserved in the Lab in the UK it has a very stable strength and can be handled quite safely, this is also ideal for exhibiting the tooth as a display item. Recovered from the lands of North Africa from a once ferocious and renowned semi-aquatic theropod predator. Spinosaurus was larger than Tyrannosaurus rex, with great crocodile type elongated mandible and maxilla, the ornamental ribbed dorsal sail and huge ripping teeth and sickle claws which terrorised the Cretaceous scene around the shallow lagoons and on the open savannah of what we know today is the Saharan western desert of North Africa.
