Andalusiana - Redlichiida | Holmiidae
Cambropallas Tellesto 382mm
Cambropallas Tellesto [Formely Andalusiana] Trilobite measuring 382mm overall in the bronze stands and both displaying exceptional preservation throughout the positive and negative plates. The exoskeleton has been preserved by a process of mineralisation in absorbing the surrounding iron deposits of the fossil bed. Overall an exceptionally well preserved and completely natural prehistoric fossil positive and negative specimen.
The three-dimensional exoskeleton of the arthropod displaying every segment of the thorax, the cephalon (head) and pygidium (tail). The axis lobe running the length of the body from the cephalon to the pygidium raised in a dorsal keel fashion, the eye covers clearly protrude up from cephalon, each plural lobe complete and very well defined down to the pygidium.
Topical Note: This type of Moroccan trilobite plate is susceptible to forgery by unscrupulous Moroccan sellers, these copies are prolific in the fossil marketplace in Africa and the rest of the world. Because of the nature of the limestone, which is very forgiving, replicas cast from original fossil trilobites have been manufactured in the past. Also, pieces of partially surviving trilobites are stuck together to appear as one original repaired trilobite, covered with reddish iron powder, excavated from the originating fossil beds concealing any break lines when the reconstructed pizza style plates are built up. A competent reconstruction can be challenging to detect to the layperson. Every fossil from our website thefossilstore.com comes with a firm guarantee of authenticity which can be verified.
