Vanadinite cluster 191mm with lustrous gemmy crystals of deep ruby red on a soft pale pink matrix. Collected at Mibladen Mining District, Midelt, Khénifra Province, Meknès-Tafilalet Region, Morocco, North Africa. A specimen collecting region for minerals which have been re-mined on a small scale over the last few decades by ex-miners and dedicated mineral enthusiasts.
In the mid 20century French colonialists created around six hundred commercial mines up to ten metres deep. In more recent times Moroccan specialist mineral collectors have made many small pits and mines to find various collectible minerals and crystals. The region has become an important mineral resource for collectors. Named for its vanadium content.
