Malachite is a common secondary copper mineral, occurring typically in oxidized zones of copper deposits. Frequently associated with azurite, native cooper and cuprite, which it sometimes replaces.
This piece was found in the Mindingi mine in Swambo, Katanga copper crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire), Africa.
