An authentic, D end fossil Orthoceras coffee table top. In our illustration set on a pair of curved glass bases curated for home interiors. This bespoke table design will make the perfect statement for your interior, showcasing an array of distinctive Orthoceras fossil inclusions which fill the Devonian limestone from Morocco, dating back from around 400,000,000 years ago.
The Orthoceras fossil inclusions show an insight into the prehistoric marine environment, now the Western Sahara desert. With superb detail, the Orthoceras orthocone shell specimens have mineralised over eons, fascinating quartz and calcite deposits replacing the internal chambers within each shell. Scientifically termed a phragmacone. These encapsulated internal structures, of the once living orthoceras cephalopods, now trapped in time by the ancient limestone, a sedimentary silt contrasting combinations of coloured marble which have now been curated in this unique design.
N.B. please note glass bases are not supplied with marble top within this sale event. The top lacquered to preserve the fossil inclusions at their best, not hand polished. See our other fossil marbles for that alternative technique.
