    Completely nature made, this wonderful example of a specimen goniatite is part of the cephalopoda group, a distant relative of nautili, octopi and modern squids, an ammonoid which is also a mollusc, this is the result of 400 million years of deposition and fossilisation, which has preserved the outer shell of the mollusc. The goniatite once had tentacles like a cuttle fish which it would use to grapple prey to force down into its mouth and eat with a horn beak like structure in its mouth much like a modern day squid.
