Akantharges mbareki trilobite dating back to the Palaeozoic era, middle Devonian period, 395 million years. Originating from the fossil site, near Jorf, Tinejdad, Morocco, North Africa. A fine Akantharges mbareki trilobite with crab-like glabella spines outstretched away from the body which enabled the thoracic segments and spines to be cleaned of all limestone rock and be clearly visible. The thoracic segments well-detailed post the preparators lab work. The pygidium with its stubby spines is complete, the whole carapace is a very good specimen Akantharges trilobite arthropod.

The preparator is one of our associates and Moroccan team, the trilobite was personally hand collected by our fossil digger and technician near Tinejdad and has been careful with the aid of the latest air abrasive techniques cleaned for display. We guarantee authenticity and quality with all our specimens this the little Akantharges mbareki arthropod trilobite is no exception to this guarantee. It requires many hours of diligent and patient concentration with a pneumatic pen to clean the overburden of limestone rock away from the specimen with out damaging the trilobite. The rarity coupled with the technical skill required to extract and prepare elevates this specimen trilobite to the upper levels of study and collecting trilobites.

The bedrock on which the arthropod has lain in for millions of years has been treated in a naturalistic way and also partially etch-worked around the trilobite to highlight the specimens dark exoskeleton against the grey limestone block to give a more dramatic display. The trilobite genus Akantharges mbareki was recently discovered and in 2013 a published paper by Corbacho and López- Soriano documents the new genus, this was revised in 2014, a second similar genus type Basseiarges mellisha has been also documented.
