    Ants And Cricket In Copal

    £112.00

One large arachnid leg is hanging in suspension in the copal slab, while many other ants are trapped without appendages, just a torso of some along with many complete ants. This offers an interesting insight into predation with thoughts of the predator having some difficulties themselves and losing an enlarged hairy leg in the action of escape! One long hair extends almost the complete length of the copal. Often caught in resins, ambers and copal, husks, hairs and bits of debris carried by the forest breeze become stuck onto the sap and leave a trail of events and flora to eventually be catalogued and classified. This petrified copal is no exception. Genus: Worker and Soldier Ants, Cricket, various Flying insects. Age: Approximately 1.6 million years to 10,000 years. Origin: Madagascar. Copal measurements.
