Megalodon the king and terror of the Cenozoic oceans may have been edged into extinction by one of the most docile mammals on the planet.

New research reveals conclusive evidence of the feeding habits of Megalodon. 'Alberto Collareta', from the University of Pisa, explains in the New Scientist magazine, that in his paper published in the Journal of Palaeogeography (Palaeoclimatology and Palaeoecology), that for the first time we can establish the exact species of prey for Megalodon, taking into account this extinct 50 tonne, 60 foot, 10 foot jaw, prehistoric monster was an ancient whale killer dating back to the Oligocene and Pliocene epoch’s, some 28,000,000 to 2,600,000 years ago.

A run of 25,400,000 years, a king in the ocean before this magnificent species unravelled their great lineage it so well kept for millions of years and now extinct.
