Carcharodontosaurus saharicus Tooth 81mm in length, of stout and a stable fossilised state. This very large tooth from an adult theropod, from this classic fossil location, the Tegana formation, has survived very well indeed. This unique and prised collection example of an authentic Carcharodontosaurus killing tooth shows some enamel peeling to the lingual faces, however still retaining serrations to the mesial and distal curvatures. A classic sabre cutting tooth, once able to rip through prey achieving mortal wounds which could slow down larger prey. Once felled the theropods teeth would dissect carcusses with surgical precision.

The tooth is very stable, being large and of such good stout form one can get an idea of what an adult individual would have been capable of with such large teeth three times the size of the great white shark of today, using the serrations of the teeth in a carnassial shear, the carnivore could tear lumps away to swallow whole. A very good dinosaur theropod tooth from a large carnivore which must have terrorised the cretaceous environment around 95 million years ago.

With field consolidation to the labial face just below the crown, this however does not distract from the great size, stoutness and solid state of a superb fossil tooth find that this specimen obviously is.The enamel in place has a chocolate tone lustre and sheen.
