The skill of mounting is one of exacting precision which, when achieved with a well-practised eye, completes the process to museum exhibit standard. A combination of ancient history and art in a union of perfection. The Acheulian hand axe composed of granular quartzite, the axe now honed to a fine prehistoric desert varnish, the term varnish refers to the surface which has attained, through aeons, a good and natural desert weathering, a patina familiar to the regions arduous extreme weather conditions.
