The African environment is a very dry and at times severe environment. The nomads, indigenous Berbers know just how difficult it is to eke out an existence among the deserts and mountains of the greater Western Desert of North Africa. This is our canvas of African features, we search, find and negotiate to bring part of the heritage of the region to Europe. An endeavour to secure some of the historical and everyday artefacts of those peoples. When over nearly three decades we began our expedition into the region we discovered wooden artefacts were casually destroyed for firewood or passed over and used for building materials. This trend has thankfully ceased as traders like ourselves coveted these beautiful domestic objects. A tin door is more desirable than a wooden door which needs frequent repairs, and so through natural and generational stages and preferences, these intriguing treen objects become available.
