Here we offer a very good selection of fossil Antrimpos Meyeri shrimps 00mm from the Solnhofen limestone quarry in Plattenkalk Malm Zeta, Eichstatt, Germany. These delicate little Antrimpos Meyeri shrimp date back to the Mesozoic era, late Jurassic, the Kimmeridgian Stage, approximately 150 million years.
Each prehistoric arthropod is well preserved in the lithographic limestone, this limestone is from the Jurassic limestones, similar Jurassic limestones which also preserved the famous archaeopteryx fossils discovered in Germany in the 19 century, a very good associated stable from a similar fossil bedding plane. These types of lithographic limestones were first quarried for use in early manuscript printing processes. The discovery of fossils was, as often is the case, a by-product of quarrying.
The soft tones of the limestone allow a marvellous canvas for mother nature to do her thing, preserve delicate animals like these fossilised shrimps. We feel these fossil shrimp examples are wonderful and we hope you like them too, as much as we admire them.
