An attractive Ammonite on polished limestone plinth expertly surmounted. Revitalising these fascinating fossils, extinct marine molluscs related to modern day cephalopods, the nautili and octopi, the shell having fossilised on the seabed floor many millions of years ago, in what is now modern day Morocco. The mollusc which is a cephalopod presenting a dramatic display for your abode.

Ammonites are becoming increasingly difficult to cull in this region, laborious methods and techniques make the extraction process slower and eventually fossil beds expire, all too a common fact for fossil collectors with ever changing environmental erosions. The fossilised shell has been set on the highly polished limestone, this has been prepared from solid limestone and is a natural product and has imperfections being a naturally hewn stone. Please refer to our illustrations above.

Surmounted ammonites have become a fossil store marque, whether Portland limestone, polished fossil limestone marbles or bronze we have been setting fossils onto bases for decades. Each fossil has its own unique signature, no two fossils being equal, each individually surmounted while taking into account the form and size of each specimen which becomes an sculptural element, these size mounted ammonites make great bookends.
