Extraordinarily forming iron pyrite, naturally formed cubes, which amazingly grow in remarkable geometric form, here clusters of cascading cuboids on original (matrix) host bedrock.

Good large cubes on matrix block these cubes in matrix are becoming scarce from this classic location. The best examples of cubic pyrite is from the Navajun region of Spain the specimen cuboids are often sharp, clear of matrix and mirror finished, as here. A startling display specimen.

Brief Iron pyrite history -

Pyrite is estimated to be 120-130 millions years old, and formed under the same geological environment of the jurassic sediments. Iron pyrite is hard, yet very fragile mineral, therefore extraction of any specimens from the mines is conducted by hand. Pyrite from this region was discovered in the 1960s.
