A rare Lebanese plate revealing a Ray and Violin Fish. Both Impressively large and beautifully preserved specimens for their size and natural position in this lithographic Limestone plate.

Information

To find either one of these genus types is incredibly rare, especially examples like this. Both Fish are fully articulated showing their complete anatomy intact displaying fine detail.

Genus - Upper/Right Specimen - Rhinobatos Hakelensis sp. also known as the Shovelnose Shark, Guitarfish, and Shovelnose Guitarfish.

Genus - Lower/Left Specimen - Libanopristis Hiram sp. also known as the Extinct Sawfish and Violin Fish.

Location - Sub-lithographic Limestone Formation, Haqel, Lebanon

Geological Age - Mesozoic Era, Upper Cretaceous Period, Cenomanian Stage, around 99-93 million years ago
