Volcano [Eyjafjallajokull glacier] iceland eruption strands the fossil team

We may be stuck in the desert by natural volcano activity, but were still hunting out the fabulous and interesting wonders of our natural world under ground.

Here an incredible fossil record find.

Above an incredible and highly important fossil record find. This massive limestone block approximately 2 metres by 1 metre shows two impressions from the cretaceous as a massively large sauropod traversed this seemingly boggy or estuarine spot, note the smaller round impressions at the upper right corner and part way along the upper edge, these are heavy raindrop impressions we believe, a deluge sent this beast a-strolling, perhaps?

Below a fine and important single footprint from the theropod cacharadontosaurs also from the cretaceous.

Another unique and highly important fossil we have been able to secure, this ray fish. soon to be listed on the web site. This is a rare find and this specimen is a massive fish on good sized positive and negative plates, plate shown is the most distressed the opposing plate is incredibly complete, fine And detailed.

we have many more fine and rare objects secured, unfortunately we are now ourselves victims of the great volcano eruption of Iceland and have therefore had to take up a position mid country. We await news of flights from Marrakech, while we have a back up plan to work north overland through Tangér to Madrid and a flight out from there to the UK. until then we’ll prematurely close this report. Keep watching as we document our travels and collections.
