condition report

This tooth is of rare quality and preservation, showing pristine and fabulous enamel colouration, and of an excellent patina [Naturally glossy], no obvious damage or restoration, with a fantastic sabre curve, suggesting its location in the jaw was some where near the front. The tip is intact. There is wear to some of denticles to the serrations, anterior and posterior [posterior-we believe this to be life wear under lens investigation], near the upper portion of the tooth. A slight small oval window patch, near tip, [appears to be life wear], on robust face of tooth, the under layer of Dentin exposed here, where interestingly the thickness of the enamel at this point of the tooth can be studied, of course now well smoothed down over time.

In the hand the tooth is robust and solid. A very good section of the root is intact, inner root the matrix/debris has been extracted to reveal a good concavity, showing the thickness of the enamel wall of the root, which thickens rapidly up into the tooth Dentin and Enamel wall. We have exposed only about 0.5 inch/15mm approximately of this matrix. It would easily be possible to go farther into the tooth root cavity, if you are a professional or competent preparator. Too both faces about half way up the tooth, there are clear very dramatic enamel striations, showing some trauma in the life of the Theropod. On the anterior [leading edge] of the tooth plenty of similar occurrences appear, which can be fairly typical of this type of Theropod tooth. The caramel brown or bleached mahogany colour is rich and deep, and shimmers alluringly.
