Description
This is an exceptional example of this species, the Comura Bultyncki which is also commonly known as the sail-spine Trilobite, very apt, is a very rare type of arthropod, especially this sp. in such an intact state of preservation. The contrast of black exoskeleton of the sp. against the lighter grey matrix makes this a gem for any collection. The pleural spines are intact and in superb condition, as well as the genal spines on either side of the cephalon [head]. The thorax [mid body], shows great detail. The whole specimen displaying elegantly on the original Matrix, as you see the full anatomy of the specimen is exposed, due to the trilobites perfect posture when finally covered in the silts which entombed it for eons. Fewer fine grades of the Comura Bultyncki Trilobite are found these days making this a true rarity. One trilobite to tick off the list for any avid trilobite collector. GEOLOGICAL AGE: 406-354 [MYA] Devonian Period
