Description
Mesolimulus Walchi, Rare Horseshoe Crab Fossilized on lithographic limestone plate, of the Xiphosura class, and closely related to the to the extinct Eurypterids, and more distantly to spiders and scorpions.
This amazing specie has origins from the Cambrian Period, and has evolved into Limulus polyphemus, commonly known today as the Horseshoe Crab.
The resemblance to Trilobites is easily seen,many consider the Xiphosura to be the closest living relatives to the extinct Trilobites.Condition Report
Both cephalothorax and the opisthosoma are highly preserved in this specimen, very distinct on the pale limestone plate. The Telson [Tail Spine], is in exceptionally preserved, the cephalon area shows good characteristics of the facial or eye area, this is Extremely Rare, especially with these types of exoskeleton species.History current
