Description
Palaeocoma Egertoni Jurassic Brittle star asteroid.
A aesthetically wonderful perfectly Fossilized brittle star on original mudstone, (now a hard bedrock Matrix) plate.
condition report
The exoskeleton of the Palaecoma displays clear detail, each segment of the five arms visible, all in an exceptional preserved condition. One appendage is disarticulated from the axial centre trunk and has been naturally deposited to one side, still on the seabed plate, which is a remarkable occurrence. Now mounted onto Matt black, japanned acrylic back-plate with attachment for wall hanging
Field Note
Ossicles brittlestar segments are common in sieved, fossil bed, mudstone residues, however fully articulated specimens are becoming exceedingly rare in the fossil bed and therefore more valuable, as being a finite resource, could become increasingly unobtainable in future excavations, therefore we recommend fully articulated specimens as a A list investment fossil specimen.
