Description
Fine Rainbow Pyrite example of the Quenstedtoceras Ammonite, with full rainbow pyrite coating occurring naturally throughout the external shell and internal chambers. The depositional environment was on anoxic, and lacking in oxygen at the time of fossilization, influencing the mineral exchange by Iron Pyrites [Fools Gold]. Iridescent or Druzy Rainbow pyrite, Druze eloquently phrases the appearance of this amazingly gemmy and naturally occurring semi precious gemstone coating of micro crystals, which forms the coating seen here. A recent discovery in the region of Ulianovsk, on the Volga River, Russia. The coating of pyrite forms the most fabulous and shimmering colours, Gold, Blues, Reds, Greens etc. In appearance similar Peacock Ore.
