Exceptionally Large Hoplitoides Ammonite sp.

Condition Report

The Hoplitoides Ammonite, gradually polished to reveal the Calcite mineral filled chambers that have replaced the once living cephalopods shell during the fossilization process, absorbed calcite creates this wonderful effect which defines the extraordinary suture patterning, very good preservation.

Information

Working these Ammonoids from the fossil bed is arduous work, as is the preparation of the Ammonoid post excavation. Many hours go into producing a highly polished & decorative fossil for display. Worked carried out in the UK lab
