Description

Large and Fine Hoplitoides Sp. Ammonite

Condition Report

The Hoplitoides Ammonite has been gradually polished to reveal the Calcite mineral filled chambers that have replaced the once living cephalopods shell during the fossilization process. Absorbed calcite creates this wonderful effect which defines the extraordinary suture patterning, Ammonitic Patterning/Chamber is very distinct in this specimen, showing fantastic colours and preservation.

Working these Ammonoids from the fossil bed is arduous work, as is the preparation of the Ammonoid post excavation. Many hours go into producing a highly polished & decorative fossil for display. Prep worked carried out in the UK lab
