Brief History
The once readily available Mantilliceras ammonites of enormous proportions found in the western Anti Atlas of Morocco, Now becoming scarce as the valleys that once yielded large quantities to eager collectors have been deluged from flooding post the hydro dam construction. Not only the fossil hunters loss but the indigenous village peoples also. These majestic creatures once abounded in the Jurassic and Cretaceous ocean of the world, part of the larger group of Ammonoids now only the Nautili remain, mostly in the Indian and pacific oceans [Ammonite extinction was approx 74 mya pre-the end of Cretaceous period 65mya and mass extinction event]. the largest ammonite discovered was in Germany about 7ft in diameter.
