Description
Specimens such as these are unique, and becoming more difficult to discover and acquire, as the beds that once yielded them have been either worked out, or closed off, so it not surprising to see less of these types on the market.
This beautiful Cleoniceras Ammonite displays a superb range of colours, one being purple one of the more difficult colours to find. The Ammonite is in an excellent state of preservation, and of good size. Slight malformation to external shell occurring during the fossilization process, which is caused by the weight & condition of beds extracted from.
Malformation is common in most fossils, due to the constant change to the environment, beds exposed to the elements, and continuous continental plate movement throughout eons causing many beds to collapse, many factors influence the outcome of fossils
