Description
Fine example of this sought after genus Asteroceras Confusum now polished revealing its remarkable suture pattern and chambers, fairly large for type sp. and very distinctive.
Condition Report
The Ammonite is naturally positioned on original matrix/bedrock to create this dramatic, and highly pleasingly decorative/collector Fossil specimen block. Block/nodule now cut flat for display.
The Asteroceras displays exceptional preservation through to the inner centre whorls, the green/brown colouration is replaced Aragonite.
Brief History
Fewer Fossil specimens of this quality are found today, due to demand and difficulties of collecting; the site is closed off to general collecting. It is probably a matter of, sooner rather than later, before these Ammonites are no longer available to collect at all. An increasingly rare opportunity to secure one of the most attractive ammonites on the United Kingdom fossil scene.
