Description
Fantastically Well preserved Flexicalymene Trilobite Fossils, Specimens such as this are becoming a rarity, to find them complete, with little weathering to the anatomy, of the Thoracic lobes, Cephalon and Pygidium. A window into the Silurian of the past some 450 million years ago approximately. Supplied with historic information. A affordable and brilliant first trilobite fossil specimen for any age.
Information
This particular Genus of Trilobite has a rather robust, (curved outwards) Thorax and bulb like eyes, which are naturally quite pronounced. It is more and more common in Trilobite findings are of little or poor quality. Usually the distinctive detail to the exoskeleton, or the facial detail is damaged or missing, due to the harsh weathering that has taken place during the Fossilization process.
The condition of the beds, is also plays and major role and influence on the outcome of the Fossils in general, as we have seen, many environmental changes throughout eons, and continuous flooding in parts of Morocco, which has unfortunately destroyed a lot of beds or forced them to collapse, which has caused many Fossil beds to be closed off or restricted accessibility.
Condition Report
Fantastic sizes and overall colour, with great facial detail, such as the eye area [palpebral lobe], and free check area, the snout or glabella is also well pronounced, clean Thorax, with excellent definition to the individual sections of the thorax. The Flexicalymene Trilobite are known for their rather rounded head and facial features, but on occasion, specimens are found in poor condition, and often this facial structure and the important detail to the Cephalon are severely weathered or malformed; you can see from our specimens, this is not the case.
Minimal preparation;. Cleaning and removal of surround bedrock, to expose the whole Trilobite in this attractive manner.
