In the United kingdom collecting from the beach in such places as Whitby, N. Yorkshire and the Dorset coast, lymme Regis areas can prove productive in finding rostrums/common name bullets, of belemnites, the average length of these is between 4-6 inches. The rostrum, is the fossilised cartilage material, which acted as a counter balance weight for the Phragmacone, and was as the name suggests, the shell or bullet shaped apex to the Phragmacone. this is often found, the Phragmacone as a whole is a much rarer find.
