Description

Massive Orthoceras Fossil Sculpture/Dish.

Artistically and Expertly cut and then gradually polished to transform this Devonian Marble Limestone into this Huge and Impressive centre piece, suitable Interior decor object. The Devonian Rock has been carved, cut and Polished allowing the Orthoceras phragmacone to be Centrally displayed in this Design Concept

Many individual Orthoceras inclusion seen, with One Large Central Orthoceras which exposes great chamber detail and the complete anatomy of the prehistoric mollusc which can be seen here with the Calcite Replaced chambers in great detail.

The bedrock has been left in rough form, allowing the specimen to be more pronounced, away from the matrix; in 3D, and which also adds a good contrast between the two [rough and smooth] limestone rock

Unique, and Rare for its size; Preparation on such large specimens does prove difficult, therefore few Fossil Designs such as this are ever attempted or successful
